“How did you hear about us?” Each year, we ask our applicants where they learned about the AYC program. While we receive plenty of applications that list career service centers, job postings, and websites as the referral sources, we LOVE to see when actual people have referred the AYC program to others! This past year, nearly 9% of applicants named an AYC alum, current EA, or fellow applicant as their referral source.
People who know our program are often the best judges of who will excel as an EA; therefore, we use the AYC Referral Bonus Program to encourage alumni, current EAs, and applicants to recommend others to AYC. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Recommend AYC to someone. Make sure they include your name as the referral source on the online application.
- The recommended person is accepted, joins the program, and arrives in China with AYC.
- You earn $100!
There’s no limit on the number of referral bonuses that you can earn – the more you recommend, the more opportunities to earn. It is an easy way to earn $100 or more, but you also are sharing the gift of a once-a-lifetime opportunity with the person you recommend. Enter: Kajarra and Frank!
Kajarra and Frank both applied to AYC after being referred by 2015-2016 AYC alumni and joined our 2016-2017 program. Here are their stories:
Where was your AYC host school located?
Kajarra: Lishui, Zhejiang Province
Frank: Jintan District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province
How did you know the person that recommended AYC to you?
K: We met in college.
F: She was a friend from college.
What did that person share about AYC that inspired you to apply?
K: I saw her post pictures on social media and it looked like she was having the time of her life. At the time, I was looking to travel somewhere for work so I asked her about it.
F: After a few months in China, she was able to introduce herself in Chinese, and I remember thinking that was the coolest thing I had ever seen.
How did that recommendation (and joining AYC) impact your life?
K: I got to meet new people that I now consider lifelong friends and it gave me more opportunities to travel to other countries.
F: At the time I was traveling around Vietnam, but knew I wanted to "immerse" in a foreign country for a longer period of time. That recommendation first put China on the radar, and I'm still here after a year and a half.
