University of Leeds 'Insights into East Asia' Afternoon - offered by the Ambassador Year in China Programme (goayc.org)

Interested in living and working in East Asia (the Chinese-speaking world, South Korea or Japan)? Do you see yourself as a potential Educational Ambassador? If you have a passion for cross-cultural educational exchange and are tempted to work or study in a fascinating culture after graduation, come along to our 'Insights into East Asia' Afternoon on campus at the University of Leeds to find out more and enjoy stimulating discussion. Everyone is welcome, and East Asian teas will be served.


Schedule

1 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. - stimulating workshops on China, Japan and South Korea, with suggestions for work and study


1 p.m. Introduction to the Ambassador Year in China Programme (goayc.org) - how to apply to become an Educational Ambassador, learn Mandarin and play a unique role in a Chinese community. The session includes an overview of the 10-month cultural exchange and teaching programme, useful tips for applying and for living in China, a guided tour of China in pictures, and brief Q&A.

2 p.m. Daily Life in Japan - an interactive slideshow by a former JET Programme participant, plus work and study opportunities in Japan!

2.45 p.m. South Korea - an Introduction to South Korean Fortresses (slideshow with insights into South Korea's history and culture, plus suggestions for living and working in South Korea).

There will be 5-minute breaks between workshops, with a selection of East Asian teas for refreshments.


3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. - individual appointments (10 minutes each) available for final-year students who would like to start the application process for the Ambassador Year in China Programme or discuss living and working in East Asia.
