SOAS University of London is the leading Higher Education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East. This unique institution was founded in 1916 as the School of Oriental Studies, and has more than 100 years of history.

SOAS is a remarkable institution. With its vast repository of knowledge and expertise on specialist regions, SOAS is uniquely placed to inform and shape current thinking about the economic, political, cultural, security and religious challenges of our world.

In 2020, SOAS became one of the first international universities to develop and launch a unique Ambassador Year in China graduate scheme.

We are delighted that SOAS opted to take this exciting step after working with AYC and Ambright for in-person ‘Insights into East Asia’ events.

The Ambassador Year in China team would like very warmly to thank SOAS Employer Engagement and the SOAS International Office for working with us to make SOAS-AYC a success.

Following pre-screening and interviews, we’re thrilled to have recruited an outstanding MA Translation candidate as the first SOAS Graduate Ambassador.

We expect her to be an outstanding role model for future SOAS applicants, as well as for her students at one of the groundbreaking Thomas Schools.  The SOAS Graduate Ambassador is also expected to be involved in SOAS events in China.
